Sellexa Limited's annual turnover is below the £36 million threshold that requires a slavery and human trafficking statement under section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We publish this statement voluntarily because modern slavery and human trafficking are unacceptable in any supply chain, and because we want our community to know where we stand from day one. We will refresh this statement annually each Q1.
Sellexa Limited (Companies House number NI735255) is a UK-incorporated technology company headquartered in Belfast, Northern Ireland. We operate Sellexa, an online marketplace dedicated to authentic cultural commerce, connecting verified UK-based sellers of cultural food, fashion, beauty, homeware, groceries, jewellery, music and books with buyers who value provenance and authenticity. Our v1 launch is UK ship-from and UK ship-to.
Sellexa does not manufacture or warehouse goods. Our supply chain consists of a small set of technology and service providers, plus the independent sellers who list on our platform.
Each of these providers is itself a substantial UK or international technology business with its own modern-slavery commitments and policies.
Sellers are independent businesses that we onboard via a know-your-customer (KYC) process. They are not employees, agents, or sub-contractors of Sellexa. Their own supply chains are their responsibility, but we expect compliance with UK law as a baseline condition of selling on Sellexa.
We assess our direct exposure to modern slavery as low: we have a small team, all UK-based, and our service providers operate in regulated technology and payments markets.
We assess our indirect exposure, through the supply chains of independent sellers, as moderate. Specific product categories carry higher inherent risk:
Sellers in these categories receive heightened onboarding scrutiny.
The founder and senior staff are briefed annually on the indicators of modern slavery and labour exploitation, drawing on UK Home Office and Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA) guidance. Training will be extended to all staff as the team grows.
