Rider Agreement

Version 2026-10-09 · Last updated: 9 October 2026 · Effective from: 9 October 2026

Fingerprint of this version: b217c7da5d204a8c02b1b176d0feda0ed2505cac0b06a6bdc05a04ae038ee701. We record the fingerprint of the version you agreed to against your rider account.

Who this is for

This is the agreement between you and Sellexa Limited when you deliver orders for the shops on Sellexa. Read it before you apply. Ticking the box at the end of the application is your agreement to it, and we record the date, the version and a fingerprint of the exact words you agreed to.

Before your first run four things must be in place: your application, proof of your insurance with its expiry date, your agreement to this version, and your bank details and identity check, which you give in a secure Stripe form inside Sellexa. We check the document by hand and tell you when you can claim runs. Runs appear only while Riding with Sellexa is open.

It is not the agreement for shops. Sellers are covered by the Seller Agreement, and what a rider is shown about a buyer is set out in the Privacy Policy, section 6.

What you agree to

  1. You are self-employed. This is an agreement for delivery work you choose to do. Sellexa is not your employer. You are responsible for your own tax and National Insurance on what we pay you. Nobody engages you on our behalf: no agency and no shop sits between you and us. If a shop introduced you to us, you still work for Sellexa and are paid by Sellexa, on the same terms as every other rider, and the shop has no say in what you are paid. If anyone, including a shop that introduced you, tries to control your work, take part of your pay or make you ride when you do not want to, tell us: we treat that seriously and we stop working with them.
  2. You bring your own vehicle and keep it insured for this work. You use your own car, van, motorbike or bicycle and you keep it roadworthy and legal. If it is a motor vehicle, your insurance must cover carrying goods for payment, which insurers call hire and reward, and you upload proof of that cover with its expiry date before you can claim a run. You keep it in date: once the document you uploaded expires you cannot claim a run until you upload a current one. If you ride a bicycle, tell us when you apply and we tell you what proof we need from you.
  3. You are paid a stated amount for every drop you deliver. Every run shows its pay before you claim it: the total for the run and the pay for each stop. That is what you are paid for that run, and a later change to our rates never changes a run you have already claimed. A second shop you collect from for the same drop is paid as a pickup, at the rate shown. An order you leave at the door or in the safe place because nobody was in is a delivery, and you are paid for it as one. Your pay is sent to your own bank account through Stripe, our payment provider, which holds your bank details securely; we never see them. We never take anything off your pay: not for equipment, not for insurance, not for a lost or damaged order, not for anything else.
  4. You choose your own work. You decide which runs to claim and you can decline any run. There is no minimum, no rota and no penalty for not claiming. You are free to work for anyone else, including delivering for a shop directly. A run you have claimed is yours to finish, so if something stops you, tell us straight away so we can hand it to someone else. You can leave whenever you like, as set out below.
  5. Collect every order by showing its collection code. Your run list shows a collection code for each order. At the shop you show the code, the shop enters it, finds the bags its screen names, each labelled with the order number and the buyer's first name, and records the handover before giving them to you. That record is what shows you have the order. Your run list shows whether the shop has accepted each order or marked it ready, which means the shop has agreed to have it packed and waiting when you come; you leave a shop only when every order on your run from that shop is with you. Cold bags go into the insulated carrier the moment you collect them.
  6. Deliver every order in its window, and prove each one. Each run shows the delivery window the buyer was promised, and you deliver within it, frozen and chilled orders first. To hand an order to a person, whoever takes it gives you the PIN from the buyer's order page and you type it in; the handover is recorded only when it matches, and that is the record, with no photo. You leave an order unattended only in a safe place the buyer wrote for that order at checkout or, where they wrote none or you cannot use it, at the buyer's own front door (for a flat you cannot get into, the building's entrance door), and then you take one photo of it where you left it, which is our record that it arrived.
  7. If nobody answers, call, wait, then leave it at the door. Call the buyer on the delivery phone number and wait five minutes. If nobody comes, leave the order in the safe place the buyer wrote or, if there is none or you cannot use it, at the buyer's own front door, and take the photo. Set it down close to the door and, where the doorstep allows, out of sight and out of the weather. That is a delivery, and you are paid for it as one. The front door is the door of the buyer's own home: for a flat, the flat's own door, never a shared hall or lobby unless the buyer wrote that; if you cannot get into the building, the building's entrance door. If the PIN for that order has been locked after wrong tries, do not leave it: call us, and do with it what we tell you. Never take an order back to the shop unless we ask you to, never leave it anywhere else, and never take an order home.
  8. Use what we show you only to make that delivery. After you claim a run we show you, for each stop, the buyer's name, delivery address, delivery phone number and any safe-place note, the shop's business name, business phone number and collection address, the order number and its collection code, and whether there is a cold bag, a dry bag or both, and nothing else. You never see what is in an order, the buyer's email address, their payment details or their account. You use those details only to collect and deliver that order: you may call or message the buyer on the delivery phone number to complete the drop, and for nothing else. You do not copy, photograph, write down or keep any of it, you do not share it with anyone, including the shop, apart from showing the shop each order's collection code, and you do not contact a buyer or a shop afterwards for any reason of your own. Your phone is locked whenever it is out of your hand while a run is open on it. Before you claim a run you see only its date, window, area, the number of stops and shops, the first part of each postcode, and the pay.
  9. Carry it the way food has to be carried, and leave every bag as you found it. Cold bags travel in the insulated carrier we supply, with the ice packs the shop hands you, and stay in it until the drop. Deliver frozen and chilled orders first. Never open, unseal or repack a bag, never add anything to it and never take anything out. Keep the carrier clean, and keep food away from fuel, animals and anything that is not food. You follow the law on the road, and how you drive or ride is your responsibility. Treat buyers and shop staff with courtesy, and never ask a buyer for a tip or a payment of any kind.
  10. If an order is lost or damaged while you have it, Sellexa settles with the shop and the buyer. From the moment you collect an order until you hand it over or leave it as the not-home steps above say, it is in your care. If it is lost or damaged in that time, Sellexa pays the shop and refunds the buyer. You are not asked to pay either of them, and we take nothing off your pay. Where your own insurance covers what happened, that cover is the first place the loss is claimed from, and we may ask you to claim on it and to tell us what happened. Tell us straight away about any loss, damage, accident or theft on a run.
  11. We can pause your account, and we tell you why. We may stop you claiming runs if your insurance has lapsed, if a buyer or a shop raises a serious complaint, if we find this agreement has been broken, or if we are told something that needs checking. When we do, your account shows the reason and you can write to us about it. Anything you have already earned is still paid.
  12. If this agreement changes, we ask you to agree again. Each version of this agreement has a date, and your record holds the date you agreed, the version you agreed to and a fingerprint of the exact words. If we change it, you see the new version and agree to it before you can carry on claiming runs. We do not change it while you are out on a run.
  13. Tax is yours to handle, and we may have to report what we pay you. You are responsible for declaring what you earn here. The law on digital platforms may require Sellexa to collect some details about you and to report what we paid you to HMRC each year. If it applies to riders, we collect only what the rules require, we tell you what we reported, and we ask you for anything that is missing. Keep your details with us up to date.
  14. You can leave at any time, and so can we. To leave, tell us by email to support@sellexa.app, finish or hand back any run you have claimed, and we close your rider account; anything you have earned is paid as usual. We can end this agreement too, and we tell you why in writing. After you leave we keep the record of what we paid you for as long as tax law requires, and nothing else about you beyond what our Privacy Policy sets out.

General

This agreement is between you and Sellexa Limited, a company registered in Northern Ireland, and is governed by the law of Northern Ireland. Nothing in it takes away any right the law gives you. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which says what we show a rider and why, and our Modern Slavery Statement, which sets out the terms we hold ourselves to with every rider.

The terms Sellexa holds itself to with every rider are published in our Modern Slavery Statement.

How you agree

At the end of the application you tick a box that reads "I have read the Rider Agreement and I agree to it." Ticking this box records today's date, version 2026-10-09 and a fingerprint of these exact words against your rider account.
